Jet Setter: The Coolest Honeymoon Destinations of 2014

10 of the coolest destinations to put on your “dream honeymoon” wish list…
Amalfi Coast, Italy

1. Amalfi Coast, Italy

If you have an urge to travel to Italy for your honeymoon, make sure to pass through the Amalfi Coast. It’s actually so beautiful that some honeymooners make it their one and only destination. You’ll find pristine Italian beaches (like this secluded beach in Furore) and some of the best pasta dishes you’ve ever had.
Santa Caterina is rumored to be of the best hotels for a romantic getaway.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

2. Dubrovnik, CroatiaImagine a city perched on the Adriatic Sea, with marble streets and baroque style buildings. That Mediterranean city is Dubrovnik, and it’s a wonderful, untapped honeymoon destination. You can spend your days exploring museums or swimming in and out of caves at Sea Cave Beach. Evenings are best spent strolling the streets and dining in romantic restaurants. Be sure to stay at the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

3. Bora Bora, French PolynesiaSplurge alert! The Four Seasons in Bora Bora might cost a pretty penny, but those picturesque luxury huts floating above the water make it seem totally worth it. This is another popular honeymoon destination, so it doesn’t win awards for uniqueness. But anywhere you can walk out your front door and hop on a jet ski is fine by us.

Big Sur, California

4. Big Sur, California
So you’re the outdoorsy type but you want your honeymoon to feel luxurious and special… ever heard of glamping? For those who don’t know, glamping is glam camping, meaning you won’t have to “rough it” too much. Big Sur is right here in California, and it’s the perfect stateside place for a glamping honeymoon. With incredible views of the ocean, cliff side hikes, and the adorable town of Carmel close by, Big Sur is nothing short of romantic. Our very own Ilana Saul and her husband recently glamped in a Yurt at Treebones Resort and loved it. Don’t love glamping? Book a room at the Post Ranch Inn Resort instead.

Swiss Alps, Switzerland

5. Swiss Alps, Switzerland
For the skiing couple, jet setting to the Swiss Alps is a dream getaway. This destination is another one on our “Splurge Alert!” list, but it’s well worth it. With world-class ski mountains and lavish chalets, the Swiss Alps makes for a pristine place to cozy up with your new Mr. or Mrs. Reviews say that booking a cabin is the way to go, but a more affordable option is the Grand Hotel Kronenhof or the Kulm Hotel in St. Moritz.

Lankanfushi Island, Maldives

6. Lankanfushi Island, Maldives
For the surfing couple… The Maldives is a country comprised of 1192 islands with endless amazing surf breaks. It’s the perfect tropical spot for newlyweds who love the beach. While you’re here, stay at the One&Only Reethi Rah Resort, take a few boat rides around the islands, play a tennis match on the courts and book a massage at the spa. Say it with us: ahhh.

Lake Louise, Canada

7. Lake Louise, Canada
In Alberta Canada is a gorgeous Alpine vacation destination called Lake Louise. Canada is known for it’s gorgeous scenery, but Lake Louise gets five gold stars when it comes to breathtaking mountain ranges and turquoise lake water. If you visit in the summertime you can go hiking, whitewater rafting, golfing or fishing. The wintertime in Lake Louise offers skiing and snowboarding, dog sledding, and romantic horse drawn carriage rides. Sounds like a complete dream. The place to be is the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

Provence, France

8. Provence, France
Of course everyone knows France is a romantic honeymoon destination. But visiting Provence is where the real romance begins. You’ll get the whole European countryside package: lavender fields, cobblestone streets, and quaint French bakeries will be the musts on your itinerary. And the best part? You can make a stop in Paris on your way in, hitting two birds with one stone. Stay atHôtel Crillon le Brave, a hillside hotel surrounded by vineyards and olive groves that is so picturesque that Van Gogh himself once painted pictures of it.

Tulum, Mexico

9. Tulum, Mexico
Fly into Cancun, Mexico, then take a 1 ½ hour drive south to Tulum. This beach side spot has blue-green water and Mayan ruins on the water’s edge. You can go snorkeling, scuba diving, and end your day at one of the amazing restaurants nearby. Or, spend a day exploring Gran Cenote, a natural hidden swimming pool (pictured above). It’s an underwater cave made for snorkeling that visitors describe as “swimming in the center of the earth.” We’re already there in our minds. Stay at the La Zebra Hotel or the Uno Astro Lodge.

Charleston, South Carolina

10. Charleston, South Carolina
One of the top cities in the US, Charleston is (in a nutshell) east coast charm meets southern hospitality. The historic architecture, gorgeous gardens, and gourmet restaurants all make this town quaint and romantic. Tour the city in a horse-drawn carriage, drink a few mint juleps, and be sure to stay at The Market Pavilion Hotel, the city’s newest luxury hotel featuring rooms donning old-world décor.

So, what did you think…
